Is LTL as Secure as FTL?

Is LTL as Secure as FTL?

LTL Shipping is when you ship a parcel through a courier, and they will deliver it to your destination. With LTL shipments, you are only renting a portion of the truck, ship, or plane. Whereas with FTL, you are renting the whole shipment vehicle.

There are some distinct advantages and disadvantages of LTL when compared to FTL. And one of the areas that cannot be overlooked is shipment security.

Neither FTL nor LTL shipments possess more inherent theft risk than the other one. The difference in security often stems from the treatment of the package. Perhaps one of the most significant drawbacks with LTL transportation is that the load isn't always loaded and transported by one driver, like an FTL shipment.

With LTL, there are additional partners involved in the transportation of goods. Transferring shipments between these parties may cause damage to products through negligence. Additionally, certain LTL carriers will transfer shipments multiple times before it reaches the end destination. This added handling and processing can lead to lost packages and damaged packaging or products.

With FTL, the shipments are not handled as much, if at all, and the frequency of accidents is therefore reduced. To avoid these concerns and other LTL drawbacks, it is important to work with a professional third-party logistics company. At 18 Wheels Logistics, we provide exceptional LTL and FTL transport services that secure products at all stages of delivery.

Our drivers and warehouse operators carefully handle all products throughout the transportation process. Additionally, we have a sophisticated tracking system that ensures we have visibility on all LTL shipments from the moment they leave our facility until they reach the end destination.
