Bonded and Sufferance Warehouse Services in Vancouver
18 Wheels Warehousing & Trucking offers bonded and sufferance warehouse services at our two warehouses in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The first facility is located at 7185 11th Ave, and the other is at 8335 Meadow Ave. The best part about these locations is that they are within 30 minutes of any of the four major ports - FSD, Centerm, Vanterm, and Delta Port. Both storage facilities also possess bonded yards and secure yards with 24/7 security.
We utilize these warehouses to benefit firms importing goods into Canada for storage or expediting the movement of goods in and out of the North American marketplace.
Sufferance Warehouse Services
Though similar, there is an important difference between bonded warehouses and sufferance warehouses. Each fulfills a unique purpose, depending on your needs.
Our sufferance warehouse is fully licensed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for the control, short-term storage, transfer, delivery, and examination of in-bond goods until they’re released by the CBSA or exported from Canada. Your goods may stay in our sufferance warehouses for up to 40 days.
Bonded Warehouse Services
In contrast to sufferance warehouses, custom bonded warehouses allow companies to place their imported and domestic goods in our warehouse for up to four years. This is contingent on the evidence that you imported the goods on a consignment basis, if the goods serve as inventory, or if they’re going to be exported. Our facility provides you with a complete extension of all duties (GST included) while the goods remain in the warehouse. Duties are payable only on the portion of the products that enter the Canadian economy. Your products may undergo the following value-added alterations in a customs bonded warehouse:
- Labeling and Marking
- Packaging and Repackaging
- Testing and Separating of Defective Products
- Diluting, Cutting, Slitting, Trimming, and Filing
- Disassembling or Reassembling of goods which have been disassembled for packing, handling, or transportation.
How Bonded Warehouses Support Overseas Shipments
Our bonded warehouses play a crucial role in managing inbound low-value shipments arriving from overseas countries. With our facilities, we quickly process, sort, and dispatch your orders. The typical process includes:
- Pickup at Port or Airport – Shipments are collected upon arrival.
- Parcel Scanning and Documentation – Each item is individually scanned and recorded for traceability.
- Sorting – Parcels are organized by carrier, region, or final destination.
- Customs and Bond Clearance – Items are held under bond, typically for a few days, until customs release them.
- Final Delivery – Once cleared, parcels are delivered to the end consumer.
