What Is Container Stuffing and Destuffing?

What Is Container Stuffing and Destuffing

Container stuffing and destuffing is simply the loading and unloading of goods or products into and out of containers for shipping.

Sometimes container stuff and destuffing refers to the loading and unloading of containers to or from one mode of transport to another, such as from ship to rail or truck to ship. But container stuff and destuffing can also refer to the loading and unloading of goods into or out of storage in a warehouse.

What is important about container and stuffing and destuffing is efficiency. How quickly and efficiently the products can be loaded or unloaded plays a major role in the overall cost of the shipping process.

You want containers to be stuffed or loaded to put the most goods in the least amount of space. However, it’s important that the goods are handled appropriately so that they do not sustain any damage in the process.

Similarly, if containers are going to be destuffed or unloaded into a warehouse, then it will be important the warehouse has different efficiency controls in place. The goods need to be carefully stored, and the warehouse needs to know exactly where they are stored and exactly how much the products weigh. The weight will be important for arranging the next leg of the journey.
