Bundle wrapping is a term used in shipping and logistics to designate the shipment of different products together as one unit. Sometimes there is a strategic reason to perform bundle wrapping. In today’s blog article, we will discuss what those reasons might be.
Reason #1
The first reason to perform bundle wrapping is when different products are related and will be sold together. Assuming the products are headed to the same destination, there may be some cost savings to wrap the products together on one pallet. For example, if a small battery-operated product is sold separately from the electric cord adapter, it may be beneficial to perform bundle wrapping if both individual products are sold at about the same rate.
Reason #2
Another reason to perform bundle wrapping would be if two separate and unrelated products are going to the same destination, but neither of which makes up full pallets. By bundle wrapping them together there could be a cost savings to the shipper.
Someone like the 3PL company that you use would need to do some complex calculations to determine if bundle wrapping is economic for you and your business. Fortunately, 3PL shipping and logistics companies are used to figuring this out for the client and can advise you on the most cost-efficient way to ship your products. Bundle wrapping usually refers to smaller products, as it may not be possible to bundle wrap large items for shipment.
